Qualcomm Unleashes lcd full color energy saving
A next-generation display technology being developed by Qualcomm. Technology inspired by butterfly wings that allows viewing of full-color LCD style but efficient power such as e-ink.
Mirasol, the name of the technology, does not need a back light for displaying images. The display screen will remain clear in the sunlight like a magazine page is printed on paper.
Technology Review (TR) has followed the tech demo was held by Qualcomm. Mirasol demonstrated on a device running the Android operating system.
According to reports TR, 5.7-inch screen is quite responsive Qualcomm demonstrated to play a video. Then, it can be used to play games like Angry Birds and others. Frame rate has reached its 30 frames per second.
This ability is obviously a promising development for Mirasol. Thus, he might be able to present an alternative device (tablet or smartphone) that is more efficient batteries.
Qualcomm reportedly plans to begin mass production Mirasol mid-2012. Mass production will be performed in Taiwan, currently the factory for that purpose are still in the process of completion.
The plan, Qualcomm Mirasol screen will peddle on their chip clients over the years. Including HTC, LG, Samsung and others. Mirasol is a technology that Qualcomm acquired when buying Iridigm, 2004.
